Inspiration for displaying treasured photographs
A recent chat with a lovely friend motivated me to write this post. Sara has just moved into her beautiful new home and we were talking about different methods for displaying family photographs.
I don’t know about you, but we were saying that photographs that are scattered all over the home can very often get ‘lost’ and sometimes become unnoticed. Sara asked me my opinion on picture galleries and whether they’re a bit old hat or acceptable in todays world of interiors…. My opinion is – they are totally acceptable and a fabulous way to collate your favourite and most treasured family photographs in one place. Think of a gallery as a means for creating your very own wall art, a way of telling your very own story about your family and friends that takes pride of place within your home.
There are so many ways to acheive a sophisticated and timeless gallery that will suit your individual style.
Why not try this with your favourite art, or try combining both pictures and art for a more eclectic display. I have recently started to do this in my kitchen with my boys artwork – that arrives home by the bucket load at the end of a very productive week at school and nursery. Like many of you, my house is my home and I’m happiest when surrounded by everything that is personal and special to me. Whilst I love to showcase their creative talents, I also need to do so in an orderly fashion – for my own sanity!
I hope this post has inspired you to create a photo gallery within your home.
